The Game of Love & Chai
or When Rani met Raj
Tara Arts presents
a topical new version of Marivaux’s classic farce by Nigel Planer
First performed in 1730, Marivaux’s The Game of Love and Chance is a classic French farce which pits two false servants against two false masters with, in the end, the two couples falling in love with their appropriate counterparts.
Nigel Planer brilliantly updates Marivaux’s version to a modern Indian family in England, employing Bollywood song and dance to great comedic effect.

Marivaux, along with Goldsmith and Sheridan, was one of the first Western playwrights to be produced in India in the late-18th C. This new production forms part of Tara Arts Binglish project, exploring the theatrical connections between India and the West, supported by the HLF
